How the timed mock interview works

A multiple-choice interview test against the clock. Pick a subject and difficulty, answer under time pressure, then review every question with the correct answer and an explanation. It's free, and you can try it without an account.

  1. Set it up

Choose a subject (or all of them), a difficulty — Easy, Medium or Hard — and how many questions, from 1 to 50.

  2. Beat the clock

You get 60 seconds per question, pooled into one timer for the whole test, so time saved on easy questions carries over. The ring turns amber, then red, as time runs down.

  3. Flag and move around

Jump between questions from the grid and flag any you want to come back to.

  4. Review, then submit

Before you finish, the review screen shows what's answered, unanswered and flagged. Unanswered questions count as wrong, and if time runs out the test submits itself.

  5. Read your report

Accuracy, time taken, average time per question, a breakdown by subject and difficulty, and every question with your answer, the correct one and the explanation.

What is the time complexity of dict lookup on average?

  • A. O(1) (correct answer)
  • B. O(n)
  • C. O(log n)
  • D. O(n^2)

CPython dicts are hash tables giving average O(1) lookups.

In the event loop, which queue has priority?

  • A. Macrotask queue
  • B. Microtask queue (correct answer)
  • C. Render queue
  • D. Timer queue

Microtasks (e.g., promise callbacks) are drained completely before the next macrotask runs.

More questions you might get

Signed in, questions are drawn at random from the 86,750-question bank across 30 subjects.

  • What does a correlated subquery reference?
  • Which clause filters rows before grouping?
  • Which collection guarantees insertion order and allows duplicates?
  • What does the KV cache optimise during autoregressive generation?
  • You fit a StandardScaler on the full dataset, then split into train and test. Why is this a problem?

Frequently asked questions

Is the mock interview free?

Yes. Mock interviews are free on every plan and don't use your monthly practice allowance.

Do I need an account?

No. Without one you get a 10-question sample test — the same 10 for everyone, scored exactly like the full version. A free account lets you choose the subject, difficulty and length, and draws from the whole bank.

How long does a mock interview take?

One minute per question, so a 10-question test takes about 10 minutes. The time is pooled, so you can spend longer on hard questions.

Is it a voice interview?

No, it's multiple choice. For a spoken interview with follow-up questions and a scored report, try the AI voice interview (Pro).

Which subjects are covered?

30 subjects, from programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java and SQL to software testing, machine learning and LLMs.
